WHY TRADITIONAL HOLIDAY IMPORTANT?

Holidays are the most awaited time of the year. We crave for holidays to take a break from our boring routine and make numerous plans for the same. In short meaning, holidays hold a special place in everyone’s life. No matter how old are we or what profession we are involved in we always look forward to the holidays. Each holiday has a unique and special theme on itself.

In today’s world, we come across too many holidays i.e. New Year Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and many more but among these, all tradition holidays are valuable and most awaited holiday in individual life especially in Nepalese people’s life. As Nepal is distinctly known as the world of colourful vibrant festivals. Traditional holidays refer to the celebration which has religious connotation and some are based on important events from ancient mythology and epic literature.

Here are some lists of festival recognized for the traditional holiday :
Dashain
Tihar
Buddha Jayanti
Gai Jatra
Janai Purnima
Teej
Shree Krishna Janmashtami
Fagun Purnima
Maghe Sankranti
Indra Jatra
Mahashivratri
Here some the reason why the traditional holiday is important:
1. Bonding /connection: Sometimes life can take you and your family and friends in many different directions. Having traditions with your family and friends can bring us all back together even when you are gone for long amounts of time or don’t have many connections with them when you aren’t close to them. Each house has an individual who is far from their own member any function, festival help to reunite the bonding which had been separated for a long time. Festival helps people back to connection, back to past fruitful life which has been missed due to different personal reason.
Traditional can be a way to reconnect, feel like you belong when you’ve gotten so far apart from everyone.

2. Creates amazing childhood memories: The traditions we learn as a child growing up will most likely stick around with you for the rest of your life-some people even pass on those traditions to the family they create when they grow older. Traditional can be passed on to one generation to generation. I remember Dashain and Tihar, every year we follow the same edict i.e. receiving Tika, Jamara, fruits, Dakshina and blessing from elders which had been continuing from the past century to upcoming centuries.

3. Gives you something to look forward to every year:
I know that when I was at a hostel, holidays make me look forward to coming home to be able to spend time with my family and friends.
These holidays are the one time a year where everyone makes time to be together and share happiness and joy together! All too many times in this today’s competitive world people make excuses on why they don’t have time to do things, those same people always should make time for traditional holiday because life is too short not to spend it with the people you love, doing the things that you all love.
Traditional are the kind of things that warm everyone’s heart – they are never the same, and they are never boring! There is no other festival that can reunify the people.
