
YALA International Independent Film Festival 2019 Held In Lalitpur

YALA International Independent Film Festival is the initiative of the promotion of Independent films and art works. The motive of YIIFF is to advocate social issues and raw stories through the medium of cinema and create creative independence in visual story telling.
YIIFF seeks to provide opportunities to independent Nepali filmmakers with a platform to showcase their films in the vibrant atmosphere of Lalitpur city known for its art and architecture as an inspirational backdrop. Additionally, the festival also holds the mission to utilize visual advocacy for the betterment of society and push the local raw stories from the land of Himalayas to the international arena via independent films.
Nepalese film industry is growing from strength to strength every year and film festival like YIIFF helps to sharpen the vision of the industry to focus on more imaginative and creative films with cinematic brilliance, says Chair Person Manisha Koirala
The film festival was successfully held from Feb 1-3 in Nepal Administrative Staff College, Jawalakhel where competitive films A day in the Park, Serial Cook, Liberty etc participated. Nepali films Supermonk, Mother, Tirkha (the Thirst), Jaalgedi- A curious girl, A song of Barpak, Silver Bangles and Pink Tiffany also participated.
The opening cinema of YIIFF was On her Shoulders, a film by Alexandria Bombach and the closing cinema was Tattini.
